Yesterday, January 31, a meeting with Đura Laćak was held on the premises of the Institute for culture of Ruthenians in Vojvodina.
Đura Laćak is a prominent journalist, publicist, writer, musician, and socio-political worker who turned 90 last year but still works diligently. He reads, researches, and writes every day, although, as he admits, at a slower pace due to his health. During the informal meeting moderated by the Director of the Institute, Saša Sabadoš, he spoke about the most significant moments, events, and people that influenced his creativity, as well as his plans for the future.
He mentioned that he is currently focused on researching materials about Kosteljnik and the context in which he wrote the Grammar of the Bacvan-Srem Pronunciation and codified the Ruthenian literary language. Additionally, he is preparing a manuscript of an interesting study on Ruthenian songs with borrowed melodies, as well as a monograph to mark the 50th anniversary of the Ruthenian Theatre. He also plans to finish the long-begun novel “Topola” as well as the poems he wrote as a young man.
